From the dialogue between Śiva and the Goddess — a prayer of seven verses, easily accessible to devotees, for the fulfilment of every undertaking in the Kali Yuga.
देवि त्वं भक्तसुलभे सर्वकार्यविधायिनि ।
कलौ हि कार्यसिद्ध्यर्थमुपायं ब्रूहि यत्नतः ॥
devi tvaṃ bhaktasulabhe sarvakāryavidhāyinī
kalau hi kāryasiddhyarthamupāyaṃ brūhi yatnataḥ
हिन्दी
शिवजी ने कहा - हे देवि ! तुम भक्तों के लिये अत्यन्त सुलभ हो तथा समस्त कर्मों का विधान करने वाली हो । इस कलियुग में कामनाओं की सिद्धि हेतु यदि कोई उपाय हो तो यत्नपूर्वक बतलाओ ।

Śivā said - O goddess! You are easily accessible to your devotees and accomplisher of success in all endeavors. Please tell me an easy way to achieve success in all undertakings in the Kaliyuga.
श्रृणु देव प्रवक्ष्यामि कलौ सर्वेष्टसाधनम् ।
मया तवैव स्नेहेनाप्यम्बास्तुतिः प्रकाश्यते ॥
śṛṇu deva pravakṣyāmi kalau sarveṣṭasādhanam
mayā tavaiva snehenāpyambāstutiḥ prakāśyate

देवी ने कहा - हे देव ! आपके स्नेह के कारण इस कलियुग में भक्तों की समस्त कामनाओं को सिद्ध करने वाला सर्वोत्तम साधन जो "अम्बास्तुति" है वह मेरे द्वारा प्रकाशित की जा रही है ।

The goddess said: Oh Lord, I elucidate the 'Prayer to the Goddess' which enables one to achieve success in all undertakings because of your love for me.
ॐ अस्य श्रीदुर्गासप्तश्लोकीस्तोत्रमन्त्रस्य नारायण ऋषिः, अनुष्टुप् छन्दः, श्रीमहाकालीमहालक्ष्मीमहासरस्वत्यो देवताः, श्रीदुर्गाप्रीत्यर्थं सप्तश्लोकीदुर्गापाठे विनियोगः ।
Oṃ asya śrīdurgāsaptaślokīstotramantrasya nārāyaṇa ṛṣiḥ, anuṣṭup chandaḥ, śrīmahākālīmahālakṣmīmahāsarasvatyo devatāḥ, śrīdurgāprītyarthaṃ saptaślokīdurgāpāṭhe viniyogaḥ.

ॐ इस दुर्गासप्तश्लोकी स्तोत्र मन्त्र के नारायण ऋषि हैं, अनुष्टुप् छन्द है, श्रीमहाकाली, महालक्ष्मी और महासरस्वती देवता हैं श्रीदुर्गा की प्रसन्नता के लिये सप्तश्लोकी दुर्गापाठ में इसका विनियोग किया जाता है।

Om. Of this Śrīdurgāsaptaślokīstotra mantra of the goddess, Nārāyaṇa is the Ṛṣi, Anuṣṭup is the meter, Śrīmahākālī, Mahālakṣmī and Mahāsarasvatī are the deities; for the satisfaction of the Goddess Durgā, these seven verses of Durgā are applied in recitation.
Verse One
ॐ ज्ञानिनामपि चेतांसि देवी भगवती हि सा ।
बलादाकृष्य मोहाय महामाया प्रयच्छति ॥ १ ॥
Oṃ jñānināmapi cetāṃsi devī bhagavatī hi sā
balādākṛṣya mohāya mahāmāyā prayacchati

ॐ वे देवी भगवती महामाया ही ज्ञानियों के भी चित्त को बलपूर्वक खींचकर मोह में डाल देती हैं ॥ १ ॥
English
Om. The Goddess Mahāmāyā, having forcibly dragged the minds of even the wise, throws them into delusion. ||1||
Verse Two
दुर्गे स्मृता हरसि भीतिमशेषजन्तोः
स्वस्थैः स्मृता मतिमतीव शुभां ददासि ।
दारिद्र्यदुःखभयहारिणि का त्वदन्या
सर्वोपकारकरणाय सदार्द्रचित्ता ॥ २ ॥
durge smṛtā harasi bhītimaśeṣajantoḥ
svasthaiḥ smṛtā matimatīva śubhāṃ dadāsi
dāridryaduḥkhabhayahāriṇi kā tvadanyā
sarvopakārakaraṇāya sadārdracittā

हे दुर्गे! (सङ्कट के समय में) भयभीत / दुखी व्यक्तियों के द्वारा आपका स्मरण किये जाने पर आप सभी प्राणियों के भय का विनाश करती हैं । स्वस्थ प्राणियों (भय, शोक, दुख, रोग व संकट रहित प्राणियों) के द्वारा स्मरण करने पर आप उन्हें अत्यन्त शुभ (कल्याणकारी) मति प्रदान करती हैं । दरिद्रता, दुःख और भय को हरने वाली हे देवि ! सबका उपकार करने के लिये सदा ही दया से आर्द्रचित्त (दया से भरे हुए चित्त से युक्त) रहने वाली तुम्हारे अतिरिक्त दूसरी कौन है ? ॥ २ ॥
English
O Durgā! When you are remembered at the time of crisis, you remove fear from every person; when remembered by the healthy people (the people who are devoid of fear, sorrow, suffering, disease etc.), you impart them extremely auspicious wisdom. O the dispeller of poverty, pain and fear! Who other than you is there with a sympathetic heart for helping everyone? ||2||
Verse Three
सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके ।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ ३ ॥
sarvamaṅgalamāṅgalye śive sarvārthasādhike
śaraṇye tryambake gauri nārāyaṇi namo'stu te
हिन्दी
हे सभी मङ्गलों को प्रदान करने वाली मङ्गलस्वरूपे ! हे कल्याणदायिनि ! हे सभी पुरुषार्थों (धर्म, अर्थ, काम तथा मोक्ष) की साधिके ! हे शरण देने वाली ! हे तीन नेत्रों वाली ! हे गौरि ! हे नारायणि ! तुम्हें नमस्कार है । ॥ ३ ॥
English
O you, the beneficent of all well-beings! O the auspicious! O you, who accomplish every intent, O the giver of refuge! O Tryambake! (O three eyed!) O Gauri! (O brilliant one!) O Nārāyaṇi! reverence to you. ||3||
Verse Four
शरणागतदीनार्तपरित्राणपरायणे ।
सर्वस्यार्तिहरे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ ४ ॥
śaraṇāgatadīnārtaparitrāṇaparāyaṇe
sarvasyārtihare devi nārāyaṇi namo'stu te
हिन्दी
शरण में आये हुए दीन-दुखियों तथा पीड़ितों की रक्षा में तत्पर एवं सबकी पीड़ा को हरने (मिटाने) वाली हे नारायणी देवि ! तुम्हें नमस्कार है ।॥ ४ ॥
English
O you, the savior of those seeking refuge, the poor and the afflicted ones! and the remover of the sufferings of all! O goddess Nārāyaṇi! reverence to you. ||4||
Verse Five
सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशे सर्वशक्तिसमन्विते ।
भयेभ्यस्त्राहि नो देवि दुर्गे देवि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ ५ ॥
sarvasvarūpe sarveśe sarvaśaktisamanvite
bhayebhyastrāhi no devi durge devi namo'stu te
हिन्दी
सर्वस्वरूपा, सर्वेशा (सर्वेश्वरी), सर्वशक्तिमयी हे दुर्गे देवि ! सभी प्रकार के भयों से हमारी रक्षा करो । हे देवि ! तुम्हें नमस्कार है । ॥ ५ ॥
English
O you who exist in the form of all, O the mistress of all, and O you, possessing the valour of all, save us from the terrors, O goddess Durgā! reverence to you. ||5||
Verse Six
रोगानशेषानपहंसि तुष्टा
रुष्टा तु कामान् सकलानभीष्टान् ।
त्वामाश्रितानां न विपन्नराणां
त्वामाश्रिता ह्याश्रयतां प्रयान्ति ॥ ६ ॥
rogānaśeṣānapahaṃsi tuṣṭā
ruṣṭā tu kāmān sakalānabhīṣṭān
tvāmāśritānāṃ na vipannarāṇāṃ
tvāmāśritā hyāśrayatāṃ prayānti
हिन्दी
हे देवि ! प्रसन्न होने पर तुम सम्पूर्ण रोगों का नाश करती हो और कुपित होने पर समस्त अभीष्ट (मनोवाञ्छित) कामनाओं का नाश कर देती हो । तुम पर आश्रित व्यक्तियों के पास विपत्ति नहीं आती है बल्कि जो तुम्हारे आश्रित हैं, वे स्वयं दूसरों के आश्रय बन जाते हैं ॥ ६ ॥
English
When pleased, you destroy all the sickness; but when wrathful, you destroy all the longed-for desires. Whosoever depends upon you, is not subjected to any calamity. Those who resort to you become verily a refuge to others. ||6||
Verse Seven
सर्वाबाधाप्रशमनं त्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेश्वरि ।
एवमेव त्वया कार्यमस्मद्वैरिविनाशनम् ॥ ७ ॥
sarvābādhāpraśamanaṃ trailokyasyākhileśvari
evameva tvayā kāryamasmadvairivināśanam
हिन्दी
हे अखिलेश्वरी (इस समय जिस प्रकार तुमने शुम्भ-निशुम्भ का वध किया है) इसी प्रकार (भविष्य में भी) तीनों लोकों की समस्त बाधाओं को शान्त करो तथा हमारे शत्रुओं का भी विनाश करो ।।७।।

O the mistress of all! You must destroy all our enemies and pacify all the afflictions of three worlds, in the same way. ||7||
